Class of 2022
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love horses. Plastic ponies, stuffed stallions, or living breeds of all types, it didn’t matter. It took many years, but at age seven, I finally convinced my parents I was old enough for riding lessons. What started as a simple activity turned into a life-long passion. I now spend hours at the barn as a working student learning the various aspects of horsemanship and riding as many different horses as I can to gain experience and improve my skills. I am fortunate that my trainers and other clients trust me to show, exercise, school, and care for their horses.
I thank God every day for my wonderfully supportive family who sacrifice daily so that I may experience what it means to be an equestrian. I don't take it for granted, appreciating every opportunity I'm given. I value my education whether a student of horsemanship or scholarly endeavors. My love of learning extends to most academic subjects, but primarily history, literature, and writing. Photography and drawing offer me a creative outlet, especially when outdoors with my four-legged friends.
I love the color pink, so, appropriately, my first show pony was a strawberry roan.
Kal was my first show horse, truly my own. When we began our partnership, he was recently imported and had never shown in the hunters or equitation. In 2019, we earned champion in the Children's Hunter 14&U for Zone 7 and Texas, reserve champion in the Children's Equitation for Texas, and fourth in the Children's Equitation for Zone 7. He is now being loved by a new kid, teaching her how to be successful in the ring. Though I miss his neighs and quirks terribly, I keep up with him and cheer on his new partnership from afar.
